Keeping of Animals Bylaw 2008 – adopted by council on Tuesday 26th August 2008 and comes into effect Wednesday 1st October 2008 (replacing the Control of Animals bylaw 6 2004). The purpose of the new bylaw is to allow for the keeping of animals and poultry in a manner which has minimal impact on, or causes minimal nuisance to the wider community.

Draft Liquor-Free and Vehicle-Free Zones in Public Places Bylaw 2008 – To encourage responsible behaviour in identified public places within the city where groups of people gather frequently and to limit the effects of alcohol on those people and places. Submissions will be received up to 5.00pm Friday 3rd October 2008

Proposed Amendment to Beaches Bylaw 2007: Horses on the Beaches – To control activities that are likely to affect public safety, minimise nuisance on the beach, and ensure the uses of the beach are largely for recreational purposes. This affects Clause 4 only. Submissions will be received up to 5.00pm Monday 3rd November 2008

Notice of Iwi Consultation Hui: He Panui n ate Rununga Whakahaere mo te Regional Policy Statement To discuss the review of the Regional Policy Statement and the next Ten Year Plan for Environment Bay of Plenty will be held: -

  • Wednesday 24th September 2008, 9.30am to 12.00 noon at the Bureta Park Motor Inn, Vale Street Otumoetai, Tauranga.
  • Further consultation Hui on Tuesday 21st October at Pukehina Marae and Tuesday 9th December at Wairaka Marae, Whakatane.

Transit New Zealand Limited – No. 65435, 65436, 65437 - has applied for resource consent to construct the 23km Tauranga Eastern Motorway (TEM) previously known as the Tauranga Eastern Arterial route. The proposal begins at SH2 at Te Munga, towards Bell Rd, crossing the Kaituna River and rejoining SH@ at about the intersection of SH33 (Rotorua) and SH2 (Whakatane). Consents sought: -

  • 65435 - Earth works over the 23km length of the motorway including imported fill. Associated activities include storm water discharge, taking of surface water, river bed disturbance and modified watercourses and farm drainage canals. Potential activities are canal and watercourse diversions and contaminated sites disturbance.
  • 65436 - To install culverts, permanently discharge stormwater along the route, and install stormwater treatment and discharge structures.
  • 65437 - Erect and Use a bridge over the Kaituna River including support piles and erosion protection.

Notification of Application No. 65125 and 65126 by Heybridge Developments Ltd

Resource consent has been applied for works associated with the development of a four lot subdivision. The proposed works are located at the end of Lockhead Rd, Te Puna at the western Edge of the Wairoa Rivermouth.

  • 65125: Earthworks for the length of the access road embankment and to create building pads for the four lot subdivision. Majority of material to be sourced from a barrow pit on site.

Associated temporary works – groundwater take, artificial watercourse disturbance, and storm water discharge.

  • 65126: Place and use a culvert to permanently discharge stormwater from the access road embankment.

The application documents are too large to download. Please view them at one of the nominated regional council locations or contact the Water Administration Team if you need a copy. Any person has the right to make a submission, which must be received no later than 5.00pm Wednesday 15th October 2008.
