Classic Hits Funky Junk Exhibition

Funky Junk is a people’s exhibition of creations made from recycled and found objects. 2008 will be the third year that Funky Junk has run, and the 2nd year that it has been held at Te Puna Quarry Park.
When: Sunday 9 March 2008.
Timetable: Set-up for exhibitors 9.30 -10.00 am.
Public voting 10.30 am – 1.00 pm.
Public Viewing 10.30 am – 3.00 pm
Prize-giving 1.30 pm. (approx) – exhibition will remain open until 3.00 pm
Exhibitors remove creations 3.00 pm
Where: Te Puna Quarry Park. Wet or fine but if it is really pouring with rain the exhibition will be held at an alternative venue in Te Puna.
Entry is free and open to creators of all ages, styles and abilities
All work(s) must be carried in by their creators (and their helpers if needed) and removed from the Park at the end of the day.
Exhibitors are free to sell their work on the day if they wish. (A donation of 10% of sales to help with organisation costs is requested)

Best Use of Business Waste – Decided by guest judges. Sponsored by Western Bay of Plenty District Council

There is no need to register prior, just bring your creation(s) along on the day.
However we welcome early registration by exhibitors and all those who register by Friday February 29th and who exhibit on the day go into a draw to win a $50 DIY voucher. To be eligible for this send your name, address and phone number to;

Where can you get the raw materials to make your creation from?
1. The Funky Junk Depot accepts donations of recycled and natural materials from industry and the community for use in creative projects. Access to the ‘treasure’ is by annual membership ; $20 for families/individuals - %50 for schools and childcare centres. The Depot is at the Historic Village on 17th Ave, and is run by the Tauranga Environment Centre in partnership with Turning Point Trust. Members can take away as much junk/treasure as they want to use in creative projects. To become a member, or to donate junk, contact the Tauranga Environment Centre ph 578 6664
2. The Waste Exchange is a unique service that helps businesses connect their unwanted materials and recyclables with new owners through a web-based forum and free phone forum.
